(Vice President - Energy)

Upali Jayasinghe has over forty years’ experience in engineering, procurement, construction, operation and management (EPCOM) in the energy industry. He started in 1973 as a Process Engineer at British Gas, UK and has moved round the industry in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region for 30 years before settling down in ExxonMobil, Nigeria for over 10 years. He is the Vice President, Energy of De-Sadel Consortium and brings his wealth of experience to assist the group achieve its goals and objectives. His experience in the industry is in exhaustive so we will restrict his profile to his pioneering work and leadership role on the ExxonMobil gas project under consideration as follows:

  • Supervision of Detailed Design by Delta Afrik for a 54 km offshore pipeline and onshore facilities including custody metering units to supply 400MMscfd of gas to the ExxonMobil power plant and methanol plant in Eket, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.
  • Supervision of the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed design of Ubit platform Restoration Project by Delta Afrik.
  • Qua Iboe Terminal reliability studies to restore its performance. Work included design checks of crude oil settling tanks, skimmer tanks and Dissolved Air Floatation units.
  • Checking and approving contractor’s process engineering deliverables for 2×25 MW gas turbine generators installed at Qua Iboe Terminal followed by punch listing of facilities.
  • Supervision and direct the detail design by Delta Afrik for the upgrading of produced water system, where produced water is discharged 20 km offshore using new pumps and new onshore pipeline;
  • Process engineering studies for a new high pressure flare of capacity 160 Mscfd, to be located at Bonny River Terminal;
  • Conceptual studies and FEED to upgrade an existing offshore U-tube flare at Asabo platform to an elevated flare of capacity 160 Mscfd;
  • Detailed design for platform modifications and installation of a new 17 km pipeline to transport crude oil from Yoho production platform to Ekpe platform and decommissioning of a FSO located at Yoho.
  • Process engineering supervision for Satellites Field Development Project – Phase II involving new well head platforms and brownfield modifications at the host platforms. Detailed design done by Delta Afrik;
  • Trouble shooting and carrying out design checks to provide solutions to Satellites Field Development Project – Phase I, where one of the wellhead platforms was experiencing frequent trips;
    • Supervision and direct the development of FEED by Delta Afrik for a 50 km offshore pipeline and onshore facilities to supply 400MMscfd of gas to a power plant and a methanol plant.
    • Development of FEED for Domestic Gas Project – Phase II, involving delivering 330 Mscfd of gas to the domestic market;
